Congratulations, Heather. Non-Alcoholic wine is the least of life´s changes that await you, and you will love it.
While we`re on the subject: NA wine has only about one percent of the German wine market right now, but it is growing by leaps and bounds. So much so that ProWein, the big wine trade fair in Düsseldorf, will devote a whole part of the fair to this segment. This is a worldwide trend, and with increased interest, the product is sure to improve.
I've been watching N/A bars and bottle shops pop up around California. And while some have quickly closed, others are going strong. The industry is paying attention for sure, I have no doubt more excellent n/a wine options are in the works!
My local wine bar has a pretty extensive N/A list, which has been really amazing. I don't know if N/A exclusive shops and bars are the *right* move, although I applaud the audacity of it, but I do think that more wine bars and shops could and should offer more variety and put more effort into their N/A portfolios.
Agreed on the Leitz Eins-Zwei-Zero. The fizzy Riesling & Rosé are great, but on still wine - the still Riesling is by far the best still I’ve had. Echoes an 8% Kabinett, and so many in my local somm community agree!
Congrats on the baby! :) One of our favorite Willamette Valley wineries is doing some great NA wines. We have tried the Brut Zero and you can get it in half bottles which is a nice option if only one person is alcohol-free. https://www.varnumvintners.com/shop/non-alcoholic-wines/15

I haven't had any of their still wines yet! I'll definitely have to check it out, I've been missing Riesling and Grüner Veltliner in particular
